FLY-IN UPDATE
Friday, 11/2/2012

--------------------------------
The fly-in is GO for Saturday, November 3rd!

Our 2012 "Tree Top Flyers Fall Fly-in" is planned in coordination with the Gilbert Airpark Association for Saturday, November 3rd from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm at Gilbert International Airport (SC45). At this writing, the weather forecast for Saturday is for severe clear conditions with light winds out of the East around 11:00am varying towards the SW by 4:00pm.

While no one will be turned away, this event will be mostly for chapter members, airpark members, aviators, and their guests. You can fly (or drive) in, meet old friends, make new friends, chat about aircraft, eat lunch, just hang out, and then fly out at your leisure. We plan to offer a lunch to include a variety of meats (ham, chicken, beef), vegetables (green beans, baked beans), salads and casseroles, various desserts, iced tea, soft drinks, and water.

After lunch, we plan to have a slide show presentation by Air Force Captain Stan "Shooter" Schmotzer, which may include some videos of live war footage. Stan currently flies the huge Boeing C-17A Globemaster III aircraft based at Charleston AFB. He was also loadmaster on the same aircraft for several years, so he wears two sets of wings. He has seen action in Iraq and Afghanistan and flown to many foreign countries, including over the Arctic Circle.

We also plan to have a presentation by Ed Fisher, current president of the revived Sport Aviation Association (SAA). Ed has assumed the reins of that organization from previous past founder, Paul Poberezny. As most of you know, Paul also founded the hugely successful Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), of which we are a a chapter. We may also have a 50/50 raffle for those who wish to participate.

Come join us for a great time and some good fellowship. CTAF at Gilbert Airpark is 122.9.  We do plan to have someone monitoring 122.9 to assist your arrivals and parking. Please switch to 122.75 as soon as practical after landing for parking instructions.
