Ken Berry is a private, fixed wing, SEL rated pilot. His family's corporation owns the Cherokee 140 shown in the above photos. In tribute to his late father, Roy, the name on the front of the plane is "Roy Jr.". His father and mother founded an air freight business back in 1972. His mother, Ken, and his 2 brothers, still own and operate the very successful Berry's Freight, Incorporated (click for more info) located near KCAE, which now also has service centers in Charleston, Greenville, and Myrtle Beach.
Ken, along with his father and mother, also ran the FBO operation at Pelion Corporate Airport, now Lexington County at Pelion Airport (6J0), back in the late 1990's and early 2000's. After his father's passing in 2000, Ken took on increased responsibility in their air freight business. Consequently, he was unable to continue the FBO operation nor to fly very often during much of the 2000's. He has just gotten back into flying in earnest again recently and joined our chapter in November of 2011. Since then, he has been getting the family plane in good condition and freshening up his flying skills. He has also begun to work on his instrument rating. Welcome back to flying, Ken!
